2026 Stafford City Council Platform

  • Committed to Transparency and Accountability
  • Be open and honest about the city’s financial struggles and find solutions at the least possible impact to homeowners to maximize the bang for the buck for hard-working residents in public safety, capital improvement projects, and quality of life while making sure that industrial and commercial property owners pay their fair share.
  • Attract the right kind of business that will bring in needed sales tax to improve our city’s finances.
  • Harness the potential of Hotel Occupancy Tax to create a marketing plan to promote lodging, dining, and shopping in Stafford.
  • Support events to bring people together to celebrate the diversity of our community.
  • City Government Should Represent the Needs of All of the Citizenry, not just the Establishment, the Warehouses and the Well-connected.
  • Common-sense Traffic Flow Improvements, such as adaptive real-time traffic conditions sensors and traffic signal changes.
  • Prioritize Drainage Improvements including neighborhoods that have been so-far neglected: Vaccaro Manor, Crestmont and Missouri City Estates.
  • Address Areas that are prone to street-flooding such as Present Street near First Street and Make Improvements to Eliminate Most street-flooding
  • Address and involve youth in city governance by creating the Stafford Youth City Council and finding other ways to engage youth in the improvement and beautification of our city.
  • Hold Community Forums where instead of politicians touting their achievements to the citizenry, elected officials can listen and learn from involved citizens of each neighborhood what are the issues that need to be addressed. This includes the non-homeowners in our city including from the many apartment complexes who have, in my opinion, been neglected by city government up until now.
  • Truly listen to the concerns of all citizens. Respect the beautiful diversity of our unique community and strive for a city government and police force that respects and honors that diversity.
  • Support and expand community policing efforts and neighborhood watches to work with and not against the communities served to reduce and eliminate crime that affects us all.
  • Work with developers and Planning and Zoning Committee to promote the establishment of stand-alone grocery stores and more housing for young families who are looking for a community to raise a family.
  • Be willing to vote “no” to proposals for development that is redundant (more warehouses and gas stations) and does not enhance the quality of life of Stafford citizens.
  • Promote family values and wholesome recreational opportunities for citizens including improvements to parks and recreation.
  • Work with the SMSD School Board to create the Stafford Municipal Recreation Center in the lot between the Stafford Civic Center and the Municipal Pool. This includes, the construction of tennis courts, re-alignment of the beach volleyball court, and additional recreational opportunities.
  • Push for an audit and update to outdated city codes and ordinances such as the current regulations and fees that deter mobile food units from wanting to do business in our city.
